Yikes that looks to close. I am buying my new super duty just for the purpose of hauling a camper. I never thought about the new demensions and how it might affect the clearances.
1" treated plywood in the bed of the truck amd it looks like it will slide all the way in and increase your clearance to the cab lights. Just be sure your tie downs are done up properly cause campers slide on the plywood, slippery when wet. A coat of paint on the plywood with traction grip in it helps. Especially if you also have a spray in liner.
Up in Canada we can buy deck paint that you sprinkle sand into wet and you get grip. It's for concrete stairs and wooden decks and stairs. I am sure you can source something like it.
A 4x8 sheet of styrofoam insulation works great and can be bought in 2 inch thickness. The pink or blue kind. Adds very little weight and won't slip around alot.
They make bed floor mats made of rubber and they are about 1/2 in thick. They cover the entire bed even around the wheel tubs. We used to use 2 of them in the bed so you could drop stuff in the bed and not damage anything, worked very well.
This may not be an option for you, but I wouldn't have that on my truck at all especially if you have to modify it to fit. You are risking damage to your truck. Only my opinion....
I will let you know how our Lance fits in a day or so. All the other prep work is done except for the rubber bed mat which is backordered. It will only add 3/8" height. I strongly recommend a rubber mat which helps absorb road shocks and keeps the camper from sliding. When we first got the camper it slid over about and inch and a half but from the drivers seat it might as well been a foot. If you have height issues an equestrian supply or Tractor Supply has thick stall mats which would help your height issue and provide a rubber base. Just a thought.
New here. I did some measuring before ordering my 17. I currently have an 04 Lance on an 01 F350. There is a lot of difference. Looks like I need over an inch lift in the bed. I was planning on the mats or making a hard platform and then attaching it to the camper.
My 17 just got built and is in transit, so I am looking for any camper fitment threads and info.
Can I ask, how and where did you plug into?
Both of you Lance owners ever Visit "lance Owners of America?" lots of good owner info and you could even maybe help someone there that may have the same issue.
