Anybody have any suggestions for a car trailer rental other than U haul? It seems like U haul is the cheapest, but just trying to get good suggestions. I live in Phoenix. I have to tow my 88 camaro to my new house this weekend with my 97 f250 7.3. I had a buddy tow my 87 iroc shell with a car trailer u haul has with his 96 bronco before he did the powerstroke swap and it was able to do that, so I'm not worried about capability too much. I would like to find one with a winch as it is kind of hard to push a car up onto the trailer. I can probably get my camaro running, but I'd rather just tow it. It was having high idle issues and then the battery died and I'm moving to the opposite side of the valley so probably 45 minutes to an hour away.
I will most likely just get the U haul trailer, but just figured I would see what others may have experienced.
I know there is a tow forum, however more people traffic and communicate on this forum, so I figured I would have better luck.
Depending on distance and what not it might be cheaper to pay someone local to just tow it for you.
U-Haul is a total ripoff. I helped my uncle move from Florida to Oregon. UHAUL wanted like $1400 for a 5x10 trailer for 4 or 5 days.
I ended up buying a 5x10 trailer in Florida for $800 and my uncle sold it when he got home in Oregon for like $1200.
Tow trucks in Phoenix charge an automatic hook up fee, which the cheapest I have come across was $60. Then its anywhere from $.75-$3.00 a mile. I have to go about 35-40 miles. I used the U haul car hauler last year and it was $50 for a day. It's now $55 according to online.
When I was stationed in San Diego and was moving stuff from Phoenix, I rented the bigger u haul enclosed trailer, like 10x12 or whatever it was and it cost me a little less than $200 when I returned it. I had it for 2 and a half days and returned it there.
U haul has always been good to me. Their car trailer just sucks. It's better than nothing, but just figured if I could find something better, I would.
I made my own pull bar for like $20 and then flat towed my green truck from Oregon to Texas for free. But with how far you're going, a car dolly should be fine... They're usually for sale on cl pretty often.

Not sure this will work for a short haul but never know.
I had to move a 67 Mustang from TN to CA a few years back and found a guy with a listing on u-ship.com that bought a new enclosed trailer from GA he needed to get to AZ. I offered to move it for almost free if I could use it as well. We were both happy with that deal.
