5 speed swap

I'm having a terrible time finding information on swapping in a zf 5 speed

It's for my 78 4x4 Crewcab with a 429. I have a donor 2 wheel drive transmission available and a
Divorced 205. Is this wierd? Would it create issues
With the front prop shaft?

You will simply need to measure things. If that 2wd trans will install with the engine in its current position, and you have enough room for a shaft from the trans to the TC, all is well.

If you have to move the TC, all is hell.

The transfer case is in a pile of parts in the barn. I should look for a trans with a married case. Trying to save $$$

Don't know how it would work out with your gas engine, but I'm swapping in a 4BT Cummins and the ZF5 and married NP205 fit on the stock mount. The end result was the rear yoke on the TC ended up 1" further rearward than stock. I did not have to modify driveshaft length front or rear. However by doing it that way, I believe the engine/transmission mounting surface at the bellhousing, ended up 3 or 4" further foreward. In other words the ZF5 is about 3 or 4 inches longer than a NP435. A guy could measure from the trans mount forward to the bellhousing surface on your ZF and figure out about where the rear of the engine would end up. Hope this helps.......

I don't mind building new
Driveshafts. I have spare married and divorced 205 to play with. It's a crew an so I'm hoping I have enough chassis length to play with. Definitely not interested in moving engine to accommodate either end
