My guess is you used the pyro that was connected by one of the short exhaust tubes on top of the engine. I used the same one and it read erratic like yours. Found out you are supposed to take one of the egt probes off the exhaust you removed. There is like four of them on there. Once I put that one on it worked as intended.
Thanks for the info. I was about to get a new pyro kit. I'll try this first. Which one did you use, are they all the same?
Btw I passed emission test, just an OBD reading here in WI, no sniff or visual.
I opted for the straight pipe to see how loud it was. Minimal noise in cab if any. Noise by exhaust is noticeably louder but in a good way. Not obnoxious but you definitely hear the turbo. I like it.
This is good to hear, I have a straight pipe that I will give a go first, otherwise was looking into a M100464 Donaldson, 4 in/4 out with the highest dba reduction

Well delete is in, the jet from variable vane turbo is too much for me, quick measurement of space and a 10.3" diameter muffler probably isn't going to fit. Anyone have suggestions on muffler that will kill the jet rushing sound?

We were friends until that last comment...LOL. When you say too loud are you referring to inside the cab, outside or both?
Just outside, want to tame the jet sound some. Keep the neighbors on a good note. My 7.3 had an mbrp that I loved the sound on, but wasn't variable vaned so not sure I will be able to match
well so far not having much luck with inspection stations(not finished looking). I might be able to get my hands on a factory DPF , time to research hollowing one out,

This is the muffler I had on standby when I did mine.

Hope you find a muffler that works for you. Let us know what you end up using and how you like it. But the real question is how do like the new performance of your truck?

Just the tow tune currently, but it is nuts how much power this thing makes, initial impressions have me grinning, as I drive to and from work this next week I'll report back. Might even take time to load other tunes in. I am anxious for shift on fly that should be ready in a couple weeks.
Yeah you'll love it, so much better without that crap on it. I would personally wait till you have shift on the fly to switch between tunes too much thou. These trucks have an adaptive learning period on the transmission that can cause some erratic shifting when you first load a tune, just like if your dealer reflashed or your batteries went dead, and it has to relearn every time you flash a new tune. That's why I went sotf. With the sotf you flash the sotf file and it only has to go through that adaptive learning process once. The different settings just change the shift pressure a bit between levels, no funky shifting. At least that how mine work, seems like less wear and tear on your transmission.
I started straight piped with leaving the factory pipe over the rear axle with the resonator in, but putting the Flo-Pro 4" delete pipe in place of the DPF assembly. I wanted to see how it sounded without the muffler and to see if there was any drone. I decided I liked the sound without the Donaldson, so never installed it. I gave it to a friend for his delete instead.

No sound clips as of yet, but did get muffler in tonight, went with a Donaldson M085421; lower flow ratings compared to the M085171 but higher attenuation. Thus far I am happy just me so used high idle to check it out, there is enough delay I can turn if off and make it back there pretty easy. Does allow the whistle to shine through...
