Need help... Does the C6 trans need the computer to run?

I am looking at buying a 1989 F-150 with the straight 6 and C6 trans, but the motor is shot, so I wanted to put a 1970 351 Windsor in it, carbureted. So I would be getting rid of the computer. Will the trans run right without the computer? If it was a manual I wouldn't worry.

Thanks

Neutral start and backup light switch is the only electronics on a c6.

The C6 is an old fashion linkage design. Swapping to carb is going to be more work. You will need a 3 port regulator. Since the EFI is already equiped with a return line, that's a little less you need to do. The 3 port reg is for feed/outlet/return. Don't use a dead head reg., it will burn up the fuel pump in short time. A Duraspark II or an aftermarket ignition will need to be used as well. Other than that it's straight forward. As far as the wiring...I have no idea, but shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

Good luck.

Thanks guys, I am already accustomed to swapping vehicles from efi to carb so that part shouldn't be too bad, I jsut haven't done too many automatics.
