So, it's no secret that the backup lights on our trucks are...less than ideal.
So I decided to help them out...
Found some nice flat high-output LEDs at O'Reilly and went to town
Ran a hot lead from my accessory fuse panel which is fed by the secondary battery.
Ran the hot lead down the frame to the back. Opened up the left side signal and tapped into the backup lamp wire.
Used the factory backup lamp to trigger a relay, feeding the lights with the hot lead I had run down the frame
The accessory lights had little brackets and little screws, but I pulled those off and attached the lights to the top of the receiver hitch frame with two-sided foam-back sticky tape.
Ran the grounds, and secured the relay to the crossmember
I thought about it for a long time too-I've been sitting on these lights for almost a year! They came with a rocker switch, but I thought the relay off the factory lights was a nice, automatic, way of running them
