Question please help w/quick hub question

I have an '87 bronco w/the 5 bolt auto lock hubs. I want to convert them to manual locks (warn) and am a bit confused. I went to NAPA to get the hubs and they said that I also need a conversion kit. I inquired as to why I need it and they didn't really know. I personally don't know jack about how auto locks work but I do need to know: Do I need a conversion kit w/5 bolt auto locks or can I just switch the hubs? Thanx

No, AFAIK you will only need the conversion kit if you have 3 bolt hubs. You are in the clear with either the 5 or 6 bolt varieties.

Thanx for the help, I guess I know to use the "search" feature next time, looks like this is a pretty common topic.

That is because you had the three bolt hubs. My 96 had the same exact hubs, and I also needed to purchase the conversion kit as well.

Since I seem to be getting conflicting information I guess I will go with the majority and what I found searching on this topic, which is 5 bolt auto locks can be directly replaced with manual hubs w/no conversion "kit". If its wrong, I guess I will find out when they are apart. Thanx for the replies.

with 5 bolt hub caps you do not need the conversion kit. i changed mine to warn standards in about 30 minutes a side. they only cost 70.00 dollars but i would use the premiums if i were to do it again. they have brass twist ***** instead of the plastic ones.

That inner C-clip is a bitch. I used 2 screwdrivers. They have a tool for that. All in All it's an easy swap.
