Well folks, the time has come for me to say goodbye to the '13 Platinum. A change in jobs means a bit more travel (expensed mileage) plus I'm not using the truck for much more than a commuter these days. I'm sad, but excited, to be handing over the keys of the Ghost tomorrow in favor of a new ride. The ol' girl has treated me well for 52k miles, and I wish the next owner well with her (rumor has it that the sales manager might be the next owner).
I've already signed the papers, and will be taking delivery tomorrow of a '17 Acura MDX SH-AWD with Tech package. It's a wonderful vehicle that the wife can also drive. She drove the truck less than a dozen times in 3+ years. It'll be a great road trip vehicle and a lovely daily commuter and business traveler for me.
Anyhow, this forum has served me well for 6+ years and I know it'll carry on in my absence. Farewell friends
Pic of the new ride attached, taken Wed night after our extended test drive and before the papers were signed. She had 3 miles on it when they handed me the keys. I was the first person to leave the lot in it.
Thanks fellas. Took delivery around 3pm. The wife then informed me she'd like to do dinner about 55 miles away. Needless to say we went! Damn this thing drives nicely. I won't miss the truck.
I can never do an SUV again. I always have to get stuff at HD or stop and fill up my fuel cans for the various equipment I got. Fuel cans inside of my Tahoe or FJ was no bueno.
Congrats Chandler! Just because you're truckless that doesn't mean you have to leave. You've offered so much over the years, hate to see you go.
Thanks Tim, I'll be around a bit, but probably not all that frequently. We'll see, cause this has been a pretty good, level headed, spot for the past 6+ years.
I will say that this new ride is quite impressive. Doesn't handle at all like a SUV. The all wheel drive system is superb (probably could hang with Subaru and Audi systems), and it's surprisingly quick for what it is. It goes down the highway with so much ease. I'm really looking forward to these road trips coming up this Spring.
The dealer installed the factory towing package which added the integrated class III hitch with 7-pin plus an aux transmission cooler. She's now rated to tug around 5,000lbs if needed, which will more than meet my needs for a small utility trailer a few times a year.
That's great! I think a Subaru Forester is the direction that I'm headed for a DD in the future. My plan is to keep the truck with as few miles as possible so I never have to buy another. Trucks are simply far more expensive than they are worth unless you are making it earn it's keep.
Congrats on the MDX! My future father-in-law has a '16 and the thing rides smooth as butter. I will warn, be sure to watch your speed. When I switch from the truck to the MDX, I constantly find myself driving way to fast. Especially on the highway.
Best of luck to you sir! Hope that you can still hang around the forums some!
