ultraranger thats exactly what i meant. those trucks where not very common back then. kinda like chicken lips you have to look real hard to find them. now days it seems like every other truck is a crewcab. i have one a 2009 Ford F-150 4x4.

I think the OP needs to tell us what he wants in this truck and how he wants to build this back, factory stock, motor & trany.
or
Upgrade the motor to 460 and a 5 or 6 sp trany.
or
Say a 4bt cummins and 5 or 6sp trany or even a auto if he can find one that would work with the 4bt and have overdrive with the 4x4.

Not to concerned about history of truck just want ideas of motor and tranny combos I have a 460 in a 77 ford 2wd would that be a good motor to have rebuild and stuck in? Or do I need to find one out of a 4x4? Also is there a 6 speed tranny that could be easily bolted on?
