From EFI to carb

Currently I am running a 351M in my truck. I have put way too much money into this turd and I'm not really happy with it. I want to convert to a 460, but all I can really find are EFI engines. If I get one with EFI, will a cab intake bolt on? Like an Edelbrock 2166?

I've read that the heads and intakes are different on carb and efi models. The efi manifolds flow about the same as an Edelbrock performer, from what I've read. There's a place that machines a plate to make it possible to put a carb on an efi manifold, can't remember the name though. I think you'll need a different ignition/distributor, something that doesn't run through the efi computer. Some vague info I know, but it's a reply and gets you something to research.

Thank you for the reply. Quite surprised that it took a couple days for a response. From what I have kinda figured out on my own was, '87 and earlier engines have oval intake ports and 88 and later use round ports.

Here's the carb adapter:

CA-460EFI

They also make an intake adapter, allowing you to use any 429/460 carb intake on your EFI heads.

I'm getting ready to swap the EFI 460 in my '96 to a carb (EFI wiring harness was hacked up). The only thing I am not 100% sure on is the capability of the distributor and the EFI's cam. I have the Duraspark setup and dizzy from a '78 F150 351M.

Can't you just swap over the dizzy gear from EFI dizzy to DS dizzy?

Wiring harness

I have a 94 f150 2wd that had a 300 inline in it can I use that harness to wire the carb 91 460 in it? I'll be using the hei distributor.

If it's a stock 460 just get the carb plate adaptor for the efi intake

I am kind of in the same boat with a 88 F350 with a 460 and have been looking at the easiest way to swap.
The carb adaptor looks pretty easy but, any definite answers on the distributor? I know how to wire the Durasprark and have always been happy with the performance out of it.
