center console lid

Anyone know of a source for replacement center console lids for the console storage unit? Mine (which I use as an arm rest) has the covering all cracked.

You can still find quite a few from the dealer, or check your local salvage yards. Or you can go to an auto upholstery place and get it recovered.

You can also check ebay. Do a search on 'ford explorer console'. Not sure what year/color you need, but it's worth a try.

Mine cracked a while back. I went by an upholstery shop and bought a piece of vinyl that matched for $5 and did it myself. All you need is a good stapler and some 3M adhesive spray glue (about $5 a can). It is not a hard job at all. Just unbolt the lid, then remove the bottom piece of plastic, and fit the new piece on and staple in place...

My X is 2000 miles away right now, so I can't get a good pic for you to see, but hopefully you can see it well enough in this pic to see it matches perfectly.

One thing to add - unless you have an air stapler, or a mechanical that can stand a lot of pressure, you may want to just take the lid off and take it by an upholstery shop and have them staple it. You have to go through the material and a layer of plastic on the lid. Most hand staplers won't penetrate the plastic. You can also use small tacks and a hammer if need be...
