That's the way I understand it.

And Rodney, and since he's the king of these things...

The 3" will still be available in 350 SRW long beds also.

After looking over the order guide, all DRW 350s (6.2 and 6.7) get the 3" hitch

DRW's all get 3". Long bed 6.7 SRW 350's and HD LB 250's get the 3". SB SRW 6.7 350's, standard 250's, SB HD 250's, and all gasser SRW 350's get the 2.5". As Josh said, this change was supposed to take effect on 1/5. Has nothing to do with job 1 or 2.

Why would the sb 350 have a lower tow rating than a lb?

But a lb reg cab is shorter than a sb cc, so there has to be more to it.

Nope, just a blanket decision by ford. LB get's 3". SB get's 2.5". You're logic is correct but unfortunately Ford isn't using logic on this one...

I'm still curious if I will or won't. As Josh said, the ones in the know at Ford said the change took place the day the new guide was released. 1/5. But seeing is believing and so far, there are no trucks in the wild with the new parameters.

I'm sure the code will still be good in a few weeks. Play it safe. These are heavy to ship and while I'm sure you can exchange, who wants to pay $50 for return shipping... like I probably will have to.

Really? The main reason for buying the SD was for the 3" receiver? It never even crossed my mind.

I agree. To me, the 3" hitch was nothing more than OEM truck nuts dangling off the back. I just wish I knew that mine might be castrated before ordering...LOL...
