If you like your truck and you're not exceeding the factory ratings then I'd keep it. If you're over the limits for payload or towing and plan to keep going over then probably trade for a SD.

Agree unless there is some other problem or you just want a heavier truck. SDs come with advantages and disadvantages.

Not much to add, except I prefer the 2016 over the 2017. Only because the 2016 is the culmination of a really great truck series, while the 2017 represents the first of the new series. I'm always shy of the first year of a new model.

What are disadvantages? Never owned one but love the look. Gas milage? Oil changes? Etc?

If the look is what moves you, buy a SD. I have never seen the advantage of driving more truck than one needs. I never drive my SD unless towing, it is just a big bulky truck that burns a lot of fuel, but I know there are plenty of folks who are emotional about their rides. I am just not one of them.

If I were not towing, I would never own a diesel and with the new 6.2s, I can't justify it even now other than not wanting to pay for a new truck when mine has just over 75,000 miles on the clock. The cost of maintenance just doesn't work for me.

Whenever I need a truck to run to Lowes or Home Depot, my F150 gets the call, but I also don't drive it unless I need a truck.

In the end, this is more a matter of preference. Trucks for me are tools like all my other tools. You started off addressing whether your truck could handle its current work load and yes it can. But, if you want an SD for any other reason, by all means get one.
