What's Your Favorite Mod?

What mod on your van has been your favorite, or provided the most usefulness-price ratio?

I'll go first - Double Din head unit with Bluetooth, GPS and backup camera. My wife wouldn't drive the thing without the backup camera and phone GPS is worthless when cell signal is gone.

Trading in my 15' F250 4x4 for a 16' F350 4x4 Dually.
Retract the trading. I kept the 250 as a daily driver.

I have a 2013 E150 "Executive Limo" conversion--extended body, raised roof, 11 leather seats! Previous owner had already replaced radio with bluetooth/gps/lotsofotherstuff unit and added a rear view camera. Unfortunately, they butchered the wiring in doing so. Therefore, my favorite mod has been rewiring someone else's mess!
Actually, my favorite mod to almost any vehicle, so far, has been the addition of led running board lights to the E150. I wired them to the dome light so they come on and fade off with the interior lights. Makes getting in a lot easier at night. I'm going to shoot for adding puddle lights next!

I mounted my GPS on the visor. Functional and yet easy to hide from easy-thieves when it is parked.

My favorites were the easiest and cheapest:

  • Interior LED lighting (easy and cheap)
  • Added factory running boards (easy, not cheap)
  • 12v outlets at each seating row: (cheap, not easy...but not that hard either )

I'll second the upgraded bluetooth head unit... a very nice upgrade.

Insulating the whole cargo van with 19mm Armaflex, the TruckLite LED headlights and the back up camera come to mind.

Not yet... I was looking at them for my boat, but haven't done anything with them yet. Your post was a timely coincidence.

Superchip Microtuner, the power increase, and reprogrammed shifts for the transmission, it tows like a big truck, often times it didn't require disengaging overdrive as it wasn't lugged on hills, had trouble holding it back.
