OK turns out my amp was no good so I just got a Massive Audio Blade series 2000.5. Sounds pretty good, got the Rockford 10" sub woofer behind the seat, plenty of bass for me.
Problem is one of my 8 year old Infinity door speakers has a occasional fart from the tweeter. Looking at the Alpine SP-68. I went to a local shop and listened to them, they sounded even better than the JL C-2 side by side. They also have pretty good reviews on Amazon. They do have plastic frames which I am not crazy about.

I think I am going to get a pair for the front and see how it sounds from there. Thought about dyna mat or equivalent while the doors are opened up, I did have one expert say "wait and see" on the mat.

Anyone using these Alpines, and what are your thoughts on mat?

Also I noticed the AVH reads the coded info OK from a flash drive but so far it hasn't read any from the CD's I have tried, just track numbers. Is that normal?

Well I received the Pioneer CD-SR110 and after reading all the reviews I was fully prepared to make modifications to make it work. But I put it on the steering wheel yesterday at the 2:00 position and it has worked flawlessly! No mods needed, very pleased with this item. After a couple days I will try the 4 or 5 o'clock position to see if I like that better, but so far it's awesome to be able change volume, skip tracks and answer the phone without taking my eyes off the road!

My next task will be to disable the key in ignition dinger so I can leave the doors open.

99 stock speaker
whats up guys? Just installed a 2800 model a few days ago. Been working nights and have not messed with it much. Also ordered some new Rockford fosgate 6x8 to replace stock speakers. Opened the driver door and the speaker was shot. Hope to do more this weekend.

Looking at that, I'd say that would have been my first priority before a head unit... but I have OCD.

If no fresh information rolls in, this was covered in a thread about 2 years ago. It might be found in a search.

well tug they were out of sight. The grill was holding them together. The flexible ring that hold the cone to the frame was gone on all 4 speakers.

idk what is the. Best. I got the Rockford fosgate 3 way , they sound pretty good. 60 watt the new radeo puts out 50 watts. They only cost 110 for all 4 speakers

they bolted right up The only con is plastic housing. Be careful not to over tighten.

Ford has clips with wires conected to the speaker. You can order a conecter for your new speakers or cut and install blades to fit the speakers like I did.

For the back back you must unscrew the seat. Belt bolt up top. I also pulled up the door step which has clips and moved the rubber door gasket.
