Anyone ever use auction companys?

I've been looking around on Hemmings web site and see some trucks listed for sale by auction companys. A lot of them are wrecked or damaged. Has anyone ever purchased trucks from an online auction company? It looks legit but they require you to register and deposit money before bidding and all of the auctions say "future date."

I bought two of my trucks off eBay. No up-front money and no "future date". Both those things sound suspicious to me

It sounds like an insurance lot that they take the cars/trucks to.

I am sure there is a place like that just down the road as I see stuff going in and out all the time.

Have you tried to Google the place to see what you come up with? If a location/address what shows up on a satellite from Google?
At least it will show they are a real place but still don't know if they will not run off with your money.

If that all comes up good and can be trusted the other thing I would worry about is the title. I say this because when an insurance Co. totals a car/truck the title is marked as such. If you buy something with a totaled title and you fix it you may not be able to get plates with out jumping thru fire rings!
Just something to keep in mind.

Thanks guys. This does appear to be salvage sales from insurance companies. I was just looking for parts trucks when I came across SCA auctions on Hemmings. It looks legit but I'll need to get more details before proceeding.

I have bought 5 vehicles from COPART and have been happy with them. Be advised that there are additional charges incurred.

2X on what AKF III said about a title marked "wrecked." I did a '99 Windstar that way here in Georgia. Never again. The hoops you'll have to go through vary from state to state but the trend is toward onerous.
That said, this could be a great way to get parts to use in modernizing a dentside pick-em-up.
