Attach Visor

A couple months ago my visor flew off. It was held on with 2 pop rivets in the A pillar and the other 6 holes were self tapping screws. How should I go about reattaching without it coming off again.

I was thinking rivets and 3m tape.

Use nutserts... aka threaded rivet inserts. Then bolts, washers and a lil bit of loctite. I'd use some rtv for the nutserts prior to installation

I have always used a little "glob" of silicone over each hole just before setting the visor in place. The wind as you drive invariably forces rain into any tiny opening ,including threads, and eventually into the inner roof. Yup,seal the bolt holes. gary

When I worked in the body shop, we would mark and drill all the holes, then make plates, about 2x2 out of sheetmetal, drill the center for a bolt and weld the bolt in there. Then you drop the headliner and use panel adhesive to glue the tabs to the inside of the roof panel, with the stud sticking out. Put large rubber washers or cut some rubber for insulating pads, put it between the visor and roof panel, then use SS acorn nuts and loctite. This way there's no unsealed holes into the cab, and if it ever needs to be removed, just cut the studs off, grind them down and skim with body filler, no welding up holes.
