Before I take the hood off I need to understand why these lines aren't clean. Any suggestions or input? The passenger side is off and the drivers side is flush as you can see. No damage to the hood.
Just the way it was back then, the fit and finish in those days left a lot to be desired.
but if you think this is bad look up close at a 55-9 chevy truck that has never been tweaked, i had the opportunity to work on a low mileage never been touched or tweaked a few years ago for a client and was far worse overall than a ford fit and finish. Chrysler products from that era were even worse yet.
A f'rinstance with fords of a common poor fit issue take a look at factory photos of a 61-63 integral body pickup. The front door gap on every one of them was way wider at the bottom than the top. Nuther f'rinstance and even more recent was the 88-98 GM c/k trucks every one of em' right from the factory had a wider bumper to filler panel gap on the passenger side between 5/16 & 3/8 difference right from the factory, and i seen a pile of em go thru working at a GM dealership thru those years.
Heck the drivers side corner window on my 64 econoline left the factory without the lower flange stamped in it....gee... i wonder why it leaked water all those years.
