6 WIRE FUEL TANK SELECTOR SWITCH

Can anyone verify if part #E6TZ 9A050-C is the correct part number for the 6 wire fuel tank selector switch, or if it has been updated with a new number that may be available. My local Ford dealer parts dept. is NOT helpful at all, he claimed that he did do a dealer to dealer search and that the part is obsolete and not available anywhere.
Thanks in advance for all of the help and time that you all put into making this forum so great.

Although I cannot verify the part number fitment, I did do a quick search at both RearCounter and Green Sales Company and both show it being preceded by A and B suffixes (assuming the C suffix is the last updated number).......obsolete/out of stock. Hopefully, NumberDummy will come along and possibly shed more light...

My web page (Fuel Tank Selector Switch - ???Gary's Garagemahal) says that is, indeed, a 6 terminal switch for an '86 truck.

Yeah, it's a correct part number but is officially obsolete and abandoned by Ford... neither dealer locator nor the NOS stuff could find any in stock anyplace, and there's no supersession info shown on the Ford site (which means no new part number issued, it's gone).

Yep....Usually after the suffix "C" , and sometimes "D", it's unfortunately lost to history. I ran the number through 7 FoMoCo NOS sites with no success. Kinda scary should I need one myself...

It isn't as simple as A begat B which begat C. If you look at the parts #'s there is no E6TZ 9A050-A. Plus, the E6TZ 9A050-B is for little Ranger, not the F-series.

Basically, it looks to me like Ford used the suffixes any way they saw fit.

E6TZ-9A050-C (replaced E6TZ-9A050-A) .. Fuel Tank Selector Switch - 6 terminals - mounted in heater control head / Marked: E6TB-9A050-AB / Obsolete

Last MSRP: $52.04 / Dealer net cost: $23.42 / Applications: 1986 F150/350.

No Ford dealer or obsolete parts vendor has either part number.

Chris/Gary: Parts this old may or may not be superseded on the dealer locator. I found the original part number: E6TZ-9A050-A in the 1991 O-S-I catalog.

The "A" suffix is valid.
A dual tank solenoid switch for the Ford B-Series (Ranger) ?

Where? No see um.

E6TZ-9A050-C replaced E6TZ-9A050-A (see post 8) = 1986 F150/350

E6TZ-9A050-B = Ranger = Gary already said so in post 7 .. But for some, seeing is believing - See pic below for applications .

Here is what I see...

They have one for the full-size pickups and 1-2 for the full-size vans, 1980-86. Looks like they were both designed in the 70s.

The smaller-class trucks came along and got a different design.

The B Series trucks didn't have the wheelbase design to afford a dual tank option regardless of Styleside or Flareside. I have one of each in the driveway awaiting garage space given the frigid temps as of late.

Thank you all for your time and effort looking into this switch and possible availability. Not sure where I will go from here, but I really do appreciate all that you have done.
