Hey

This is my first time on here and my truck has 400,000 miles on it and I was wondering should I put a edge evolution tune on my truck

How many miles have YOU put on the truck? Do you know its history?

No. An edge insight that monitors the truck is fine, but Edge tunes are problematic for the 7.3. There are several good tuners out there depending on yours needs.

What modifications does the truck currently have?

Tuning your truck for more horsepower can have consequences (especially with cheap tunes/generic tunes) if not prepared for and thought out. Some things to consider before tuning your high mile truck:

Age of all the o-rings and the two high pressure lines on top of the engine. These are now manufactured with better materials than were available when our trucks were made.
Health of the turbo center bearing cartridge. Check your compressor wheel for wear on the fins on the intake side.
Health of the transmission. It will be the first thing exposed if too weak/worn out to handle the extra power. If still stock, there are many upgrades to the internals available for the 4R100 that make it more reliable and sturdy.
Condition of the injector o-rings both internally and externally.
Condition of the up-pipes. Are they leaking and sapping your boost?
You should have gauges to monitor things (EGT/fuel pressure/boost/trans. temperature)if adding extra power to your veteran truck.

In short, make sure your truck is 100% before adding any kind of tuning for more HP and TQ, or you might be going down money-pit road like some of us have done.

I disagree based on the experience of a well respected tuner who used to work with Bill at PHP.

Bill at PHP, who at one time worked for Edge, wrote the calibrations for them, if I'm remembering the info correctly. Someone else can confirm that part.

EDIT:

The reason for the bad rap has little to do with how good or bad it is but instead with what people - who have no experience with one or the calibrations and how they're written have read about them on an internet forum just like this one - continue to regurgitate when threads like this come around.

If you have it, use it. If you don't like it you can take it off and resell it.

Not trying to be circular in logic here, or negative in any way, but how much you can get for the rig is based on how much someone is willing to pay.

As for pricing guide, you have to check the various online resources, as well as see how much similar rigs are selling for in your geographic area, when it comes time to sell.
