OK Ranger gurus, I normally hang out in the 73-79 and OBS forums. I need some schoolin' on Rangers and Explorers......My Neice just rolled her 2001 Explorer XLS 4.0L Automatic on its side due to slick roads. This used to be my vehicle so I know the history on it. It still has a good running 4.0L, automatic and the rest of the drivetrain is good......She just messed up the body too bad to mess with. What from this Explorer can Be used on a Ranger and what years of Ranger

Engine is a 4.0 SOHC, which was used in 2001+ Rangers. Transmission is a 5r55e, which was used in 98+ Rangers, although electrical connections may or may not be different for certain years. Front suspension and front axle is the same as 98+ Rangers, rear axle is different from Ranger axles but can be modified to work (and they're an upgrade in strength over Ranger axles - it also has disc brakes as opposed to the Ranger's drums), interior - dash was used in 95+ Rangers, front seats and center console can probably be swapped over. Just about everything under the hood can be swapped to a 4.0 SOHC equipped Ranger.
