Well here is my problem. I let my brother borrow my Bronco for a weeK. I get it back and it runs like crap and the brakes were shot. I have fixed the brakes and now need to move on to the engine. It is a stock 400 with the stock 2150 carb. I jetted up a while back (8 months or so), and killed the EGR. Also I added a MSD Coil and that is it.
Now on to the problem. Jr. seems to stutter really bad now. It does not matter if it is under load or not, I pulled the plugs thinking that they were fouled but that did not help. Could it be time to rebuild the carb? Is my Dist shot? Is my new coil gone? Any help would be great. Thank You.
If your chain jumped a tooth then the timing will be off. Check that unless you moved the dist. already. I have had the small pick up tubes in the carb get junk in them causing a miss, pull the center venturi with the accelerator pump nozzles and check for a clogged tube. And dont forget to look for a vacuum leak..
Thanks, I'm going to pull the carb this weekend and take a look. I'll check the timming this weekend. I really like this board, thanks for all the help.
Well I rebuilt the carb this weekend, I found the accelerator pump check valve was torn. I rebuilt the carb after a good cleaning. Now I have noticed That it is not as bad of a stutter, but, it is still there. I checked the timing it is fine (10° BTDC), But I noticed that there is a slight "tap" coming from the #1 cy. I'm stumped. Please help. I will find a place to test the distributor pickup module tomarrow.
