F350 DOT Requirements

1. What are you doing for the numbers that need to be displayed (location and material)?
- I take it I cannot use magnetic numbers with the body being aluminum....

2. Same thing in regards to the fire extinguisher.

Do you need DOT numbers? I guess you're commercial pulling a trailer? I think its generally a contrasting font visible from 20' away. I put my way down low on driver and passenger doors. Don't forget you're medical card, safety triangles, etc,

Steel flatbed with underbody toolboxes and magnetic numbers. Fire extinguisher and reflective triangles in the front drivers side box.

If I had kept the aluminum bed I was going to try using magnetic numbers and gluing another magnet to the inside of the bed skin for it to stick to through the aluminum.

Good idea! I hate the idea of putting stupid *** stickers on such a nice piece of equipment. Not planning on putting the business name on it either so I would prefer magnetic numbers. Going to try your idea out.

That may be easier for you in California since CA is one of the few states which does not have a requirement for DOT numbers. The majority of states have their own requirement in addition to the Federal requirement and hence the increased scrutiny by the various local police departments.
