Tailgate trim panel

Would like to add a trim panel to my tailgate that did not originally come with one (93 F350) Is it just a matter of drilling some holes for mounting brackets? Were the OEM panels stainless steel or aluminum?I was thinking of going with the pc Dennis Carpenter is making now out of aluminum. Has anyone installed one of those,if so,any good? I know,a lot of questions
