How can it be done?

PJ Trailers | 8" Channel Equipment

I am want to be able to pull two Jeeps with my truck. Seems no matter what I do I overload the truck or the hitch. The above trailer can come with a 3rd axle. Giving me more than enough to haul two 5000# Jeeps (2drs). I think I can fit them on a 24 foot trailer. That should put me at 13K#. Which I believe is just out of spec for the factory hitch.

PJ Trailers | Classic Flatdeck with Singles

PJ Trailers | Classic Flatdeck with Duals

If I go with the above goosenecks the trailer weighs more. Then it will be closer to 16K. which is out of spec for the truck. (2013 6.2L 2wd w/ 3.73)

Thoughts, Opinions, suggestions!!!! Don't hold back!

by the numbers.. you are over and over..

my 2012 "XL" has camper package (strongest F 250) and can carry 3,600
and tow 10,000.....

and anything with a tongue weight of 600 or more needs a WDH. unless you go 5th wheel or gooseneck.

my opinion.

How is that possible unless the years are different. Reading this from Ford I would think 12,500 from the hitch (with weight distributing hitch) & 15,400 if I swap out to 4.30 gears.

I might if I was staying on a farm or local urban roads. I live in near Chicago. Last year trailered to Utah through Denver mountains. This year Ouray CO is set. Also a trip to AR & TN possible. Not to mention the several trips just a 2 to 4 hours away. I don't mind pushing the limits but a life isn't worth me getting another Jeep to my location.

fair enough.

I guess my point was that you are looking at going a little bit over, where as I was nearly double.

there's more headroom in that rating than you'd think.

Are you sure those Jeeps weigh 5k each? That sounds high to me. I never weighed our 6 cyl TJ when we had it, but I know my old YJ and older yet CJ's didn't weigh near 5k.

Had them weighed at a CAT scale.

Base curb weight is 3900#. Not sure if that is with fluids. Start adding tires, bumpers, winch, and a full skid plate pkg and they turn into heffers.

2nd one is the G/F. So sure she could drive her own. But when making 30 hour one way trips it's nice having someone to talk to and share driving time.

I admire your perspective on things, but I think you're putting too much weight into the factory limits. Your exact truck would be rated for 3,000 lbs more capacity if you simply had different gearing. No other part of the truck would be different.

You're not going to kill anyone because you can't accelerate fast enough. It would be a bit pokey off the line, but once your RPMs came up in first gear you should be fine. You won't be fastest up the mountain, but you'll get there every bit as safely as anyone else in an SRW truck.

Watch your axle weights and your hitch weight limits. If you're under those you should be fine.
