2008 F250 4x4 problem
Just thought I would ask here real quick before jumping in to the problem.
Basically I have a 2008 f250 (6.4l if that makes any difference) That wont engage into 4x4. When you go to turn the switch to engage the 4x4 all you get is a click click click click click.
Is that a problem with the 4x4 shifting solenoid on the transfer case? Anything else to look for? The truck has 95k miles on it

I'm thinking you have a vacuum leak somewhere. Your truck sounds like it is ESOF operated the 4wd hubs are vacuum operated, so it takes vacuum to disengage the hub.
If the truck loses vacuum to either hub, BY a hole in the line or the vaccuum valve crapping out or a seal leaking or one of the hose junction points ( elbow or tee cracked or broken ) the truck will be partially engaged in 4wd and the clicking sound you'd be hearing is the hub and integrated wheel end (vacuum operated part) grinding against one another.
I would check my air lines from the vacuum pump and reservoir and then follow the lines around up top and then under neath to each wheel checking the tees and elbows at the junction points and hoses all the way make sure they arent cracked or have rubbed thru
Could be one of the seals at the wheel is not holding and leaking air out when the vacuum kicks on. You could also take a vaccum gauge and check the vaccum pressure at each wheel, you should be able to see the pulse on the gauge when the solenoid sends its pulse via the gauge as the pressure will drop and then come back up to a certain amount as the pulse is sent from the soelnoid
