Put the truck all back together, turn the key on and waited for the wts light, my husband tells me to turn the key off because the black wire with the red stripe was smoking. What is this new problem?
We have put all new glow plugs, wiring harness under valve covers are all new, new complete fuel bowl, new fuel pump, ebpv delete, new batteries, fixed a short to the cig lighter
It should not smoke unless you have shorted out something or the wire is frayed
need to ohm out the glow plugs at the connecter with it removed and check for 1 ohm, remove the 2 heavy wires going to the GPR and ohm it out and should only have about .250 ohm on each wire to ground.
remove the wire crimpers from the glow plug relay....
sorry for the smart#$% comment, i did that on my truck, and actually ended up with a small fire and got to rebuild alot of the wiring under the hood. LOL
i agree with everyone else, start looking for a short.
Put on the new glow plug relay today. One of the post's on the old one was broke inside the relay and was jiggly around. Looks like someone cross threaded the nut then tightened it hard and snapped the post!! New relay and no more smoke
