Headlight Replacement - Need help in NoVA!

I received the retrofitted headlights from Tony yesterday and started to get them installed.

Read through many threads, watched a bunch of Youtube videos before I got started. I could only get as far as removing the marker/turn signals and the two retaining clips on the top. There was no way to pinch the 3rd clip at the bottom of the headlight Lots of cussing, but no way I could get that pinch clip to come off. I am talking about the clip that goes in position 2 in the picture below.

Any suggestions before I take it to a professional and pay for this install to be done? Better yet, if there's anybody within 50 miles of Washington DC that can help me with this, I'll owe you a case of whatever brand cold beer you want

huh? I think you're doing it wrong. remove the 4 bolts at the top of the grill. After you remove the bolts tilt the top towards you and look down behind it, there are clips at the bottom. Take the grill out.. Then there are 2 bolts at the top of the headlight, and 2 underneath that you need to reach between the bumper and bottom of the headlight to remove. That's it, the whole light housing then comes out.. uhook the bulbs.

It was a major PITA for me too!

I ended up jamming a deep socket over it to close the tangs and was able to pull out the housing. Sorry but I don't remember what size socket...

The '00 EX doesn't have the bolts on the top. It is held back by the retaining clips. The newer models have the bolts holding the headlight in place.

Ahh.....Didn't think of this. Just put the lights back together as I had to come back in to join a conference call. Will try that the next time.

Plastic loses elasticity and its freezing out. I'd hit it with a hair drier or heat gun.

There was a group buy somewhere here on the FTE. Tony is making these HID retrofit kits.
