Alright so recently I have been having issues with my 89 not running, I am almost certain it's due to electrical issues. so to save myself the headache I'm converting to a carb setup. Now I know many of you guys might disagree and try to steer me away from doing this but, I personally haven't had a carbureted vehicle leave me scratching my head like this. There are few reasons why this conversion intrigues me the biggest being cost but, also ditching the speed density will give me many more cam options and in my opinion will be the best bang for my buck.
Now the only questions I have are since I'm running an aod what kick down will I run for the TV cable? I tried googling this but everything I found was full of people arguing against the conversion.
what do you guys suggest distributor wise? I'm back and fourth on this duraspark or hei, although I'd hate to put Chevy parts under my hood.l
and finally the reason I posted to begin with. I found a Edelbrock performer 289 intake on Kijiji for a very reasonable price I know the 289 intakes will match up with older 302s but what about my 89?
I'm pretty set on doing this however, criticism is welcome I do have an open mind. besides I'd like all the feed back I can get before I molest my truck.
Did you even attempt to check for codes to see if there was an obvious reason why it isn't running? It's really no hassle whatsoever and then you know. A paperclip and about 5 minutes of your time is all it takes...
If your thinking about intakes, cam, etc; why not just upgrade to a 351w? It's a much better match for these heavy trucks anyway.
