I might end up with a 79 2wd f250 with a 460 and a C6. I am thinking of swapping the 460 onto a 92 f250 2wd chassis backed by a zf5 that is on the 92 currently behind a 7.3 idi. Then dropping my rust free 75 F250 body on top of that mess. I know the frames are a different width. but i am not sure about bellhousings. I remember reading somewhere that the IDI uses the big block pattern? Anyone know if the IDI zf5 will work on the 460?

73-79 and 80-98 are a few inches different between the frame rails. So i will have to make adaptors for the mounts on everything. My main head scratcher is whether or not the 79 460 will mount to the 92 7.3IDI 2wd zf5 transmission. I remember reading that they were compatible bellhousing and input shaft but the ratios were different between the two. Just wondering if anyone on here would have the experience to confirm or deny.
Only the two top bellhousing bolts are the same, and the starter motor of the IDI attaches to the spacer, so there is no way to bolt a 460 starter to a diesel bellhousing.
