I am thinking of buying a set of dedicated wheels for my snow tires. What is involved and how difficult is it to sync up of a different set of wheels seasonally regarding the TPMS? Ideally I would like to do this myself and save the trip to the dealer twice a year.
If you have a Discount Tire shop in your area they can outfit you with a set of sensors for the seasonal wheels that have the exact same signature as your OEM sensors. So swapping between wheels will require no reprogramming - no trip to the dealer!
But you may require going into TPMS on ForScan and adjust PSI down to suite the winter tires, set at 65 psi instead of 80 in the rear. Mine already appears to be set at 60 psi front and rear. I am not getting warnings at 65 psi around all four.
anymore info on this?
I am about to buy winter tires and run them on my factory wheels. I will also buy new sensors. I don't want to deal with switching sensors.
will the truck automatically recognize the new set of sensors, or is there some procedure that needs to take place??
also, to confirm, a SRW F350 uses a 315mhz sensor, correct?
I put snow tires on my wife's 2016 Escape, they are on black steel wheels with no sensors. I leave the summer wheels and tires stacked in the garage over the winter. She drives 12 miles each way to work everyday and the light never comes on. If you go on a long trip it will come on though. If you come home with the light on, the next morning it is out again. I would think that they reset because the summer tires are in the garage. Not sure if this would work on the Super Duty.

this won't work for me. I want a dedicated set. thanks though
I confirmed with my dealer my truck uses 315 mhz sensors. she wouldn't give me the part numbers. when I run my VIN on ford parts.com, it pulls up 2 sensors. 42 and 43. the descriptions are the same. Which sensor is it???
