Greetings all, I'm wondering if any of you have found a high quality replacement carpet. I pulled mine and did a full scrub/pressure wash with dish soap and rust remover and it still looks pretty bad (have done this many times in the past with good results). I know OEM fitment is going to be best and I may try to find a better one in a junk yard. Have any of you had a good experience with aftermarket? I would be fine with carpet or the rubber/vinyl floor. Pictures of it going in would be great if you've got any. I put mine back in but I'm planning to continue restoration in the spring with the new floor if I can find one that I like. I read a bad review of the ACC vinyl floor on one of the restoration threads in here. They said the fitments was very poor.
I put an ACC carpet in my Jeep I got from Stockinteriors.com since they were cheaper than other places I saw. Overall I was very happy with the fit. I also read bad reviews on both the carpet and vinyl kits but that was not my experience.
Autocustomcarpets On Ebay is where I got mine. $138.00 Shipped. Quality is excellent and color match was perfect. Made to order but I probably got mine in about a week total. Enough material to make a perfect fit. I have the single cab.
Thanks John, thats the kind of input that I'm looking for. I'm, trying to restore this thing and I've been down the "buy cheap, buy it twice" road too many times.. Nice clean work on the Newport.
If you're not too picky in terms of it being brand new, try your local wrecking yards. I found a very clean red one in an extended cab at the local pick-a-part. Took it out myself, only paid $10. Trimmed the last 2' off the back of it and had to punch a couple holes for my seat. It looks great.
ACC interiors. I had to trim the edges slightly, but I love the finished product and the new carpet smell. For the first few weeks I took my shoes off to drive! I paid $115 and am very happy. I wish I had a picture with the seat out, but I installed it at night.
So you guys with the ACC carpets are OK with them? I wonder what the other reviews I read were having problems with. Guess I'll order one this spring, probably in black. There's no way I could keep a light gray one (stock color) clean. How About floor mats? My truck didn't come with any at all.
If you find a good OEM carpet at the salvage yard don't worry about it being filthy. It will amaze you how it will clean up with good cleaner and/or moderate pressure.
