ok i just tore up and threw away a 3/4 full TRASH BAG... yeah the large black plastic bags- everything i tore up and threw away- AD'S FOR CREDIT CARDS
i get 2-3 a week that say "youve been preaproved for $5,000" i just set them aside and finally i tore them up and tossed them... thats just from this summer.
im 20 years old, never been in debt or had a credit card, run my own business.
anyone else have this problem? just had to rant a little bit
I don't have a credit card eather (nor do I ever want one for that fact) but I DO get a bunch of "junk mail". Mostly on the internet though Withen the year I must've got at least 1K adds telling me to get a credit card and get free bonus Flyer Millage, etc.
Every week I shred about 10 credit card ads, and often a check for over $5,000. I made the mistake of borrowing some money a few years ago - that company sends me cashable checks every time they think of it, maybe 6 a year. I am security paranoid, so I don't throw out anything - I shred anything my name and address on, details, or numbers. That way, I feel beter.
me too theo.... i have a shredder and every pre-approval letter or credit card promotion I get goes from my mailbox to the shredder. You can't be too careful now days. the smaller the shred, the better I feel....its even kinda therapuetic (sp?). after we first got it... I shredded anything I could find in the house...it was kinda fun
I also get a ton of email from anybody about ANYTHING...drives me nuts...I used to go to each one and ask to be removed from their list...but it just gets to be overwhelming!
marketers take notice from us:we don't want anymore...stop sending us your junk!!!
I'm 20 and I have a debit card. A lot better than a credit card - easy to use and no debt to worry about. Now, for junkmail, thats a different story. I actually don't get too many, then again I keep a low profile so it just makes it a little harder for them to find me.
i have the same problem, im 19 and pay for everything up front, no debt to worriy about, i am going to try and go my whole life this way. i want to save for the things i want, not buy no pay later. i get tons of those credit cards in the mail, i even had my buisness approved for a credit line of 20,000 bucks, only one problem. i don't have a buisness!
Hmmm, I am 19 and used to get them all the time up until I turned 18 and then after we (my husband and I ) bought our house they have been pouring in like crazy for both of us. I always open them to check APR, grace period, annual fees, membership fees, etc and then laugh when I wonder how many stupid people actually apply for those high interest rates and whatnot.

True enough. A friend of mine got three or four of those credit card offers a month, but instead of trashing them, stuck them away in a drawer and kept them "Just in Case". He had a man come in one day to renovate part of his house and the guy found them, took them all and replied in my friend's name with a change of address. You know the credit card people didn't care as long as the little dollar suckers were being used. So the guy used about 2 dozen of them, bought thousands of dollars worth of stuff and was eventually caught. But...whose name is on the card? Ol' Buddy. And he is the one with the bad credit now with no way to make the other guy pay for them. I tear them in little peices and put them in the "paper only" basket and burn them myself.
Or you could send them back with nothing on them and make them pay the postage.... The people at the post office deserve the money alot more than the credit companies.
When I get junkmail I send them back other junkmail in the envelope with prepaid postage, this way the company sending the junkmail recieves a little in return.
sweet...I've never thought about that...wonder if you could just write on the front "return to sender"....wouldn't that be a hoot if everyone just started returning all the junk mail they got...do you think it would work?
