After my OCD had enough, I removed the RECON 3rd brake light which fit like crap.
Went to local junk yard and bought two 3rd brake lights from a couple Ex's that were just put into the yard.
Removed the red lense and had to trim the base to allow the flat LED's
Next i glued a piece of scrap tin I had laying around to the base so the LED's would have a flat surface to mount to.
After it dried overnight, I stuck the Waterproof LED's to the tin with he preinstalled 3M backing.
Before I could re-instal the red sense, I had to do a bit of trimming to the inside of the red lens. I wasn't concerned about the light being sealed because the LED's are supposed to be waterproof.
Anyways they are crazy bright at night.
Here is what I used. I think they are like $2.50/light so about $10 for the 4 used in the mod and $5 for the used brake light
I'll be in your neck of the woods this weekend. Im taking the wife to the National Championship game and decided to go kayak fishing while there.
Right on! Should be a helluva game (or at least I'm hoping for one... could be a defensive struggle). Do you know where you're going to be fishing yet? Want some advice?

Thanks. I hope its a better game than either of the playoff games. I'm a diehard Gamecock fan and my wife is a die hard Clemsux fan. We are staying at the KOA in St. Pete. Planned on fishing the Long Bayou behind the KOA. We fished there from our Kayaks in August and had a blast. Tons of Reds, Snook and usual trash fish.
Could always use some recommendations if you know some good spots
Ha! I know that all too well man, I'm a Hokie and my wife (and all her family) are Tarholes so we have "fun" multiple times per year in basketball and football.
If you're in St Pete, there's not much I can help you with. Where you're staying is just fine for kayak fishing. If you were in Hillsborough, I was going to offer you a place to launch and get on the snook and red right behind my house.
