Leak in high pressure AC line

I have a leak in the high pressure AC line at the sight glass. There appeared to be a plastic screw on cap but it broke off when I tried to remove it. There was an O-ring below the cap. I'm guessing I just need to replace this line between the compressor and evaporator. I can't see how the line connects on the back side of the compressor. Will I have to remove the AC compressor to replace the line? I appreciate any advice on this.

After searching Google, I think I have this figured out. I thought this was a sight glass but it looks like it is the "High Side AC Port Valve".

If it is just the high side fitting then it is replaceable. You will need a special socket though. Shouldn't cost more than 30 bucks for the fitting and the socket.

Thanks. Any idea if this socket is available through a Ford dealer?

I wouldn't bother with the dealer for the socket if it is more expensive than a part house. You shouldn't be needing to put a lot of torque on them. I did some searching and found a socket at napa for 8.99(part number NTE 783006) and a high side service port for 5.99(part number TEM 409521).

Yes sir. Thanks for the part numbers. I didn't expect Napa to have the AC port.

Just wanted to double check the year as I used 1995 as the year to search for parts. I didn't expect them have it either but I checked when I replaced mine and they did. They may need to dig around or order it. The napa in my town apparently doesn't sell many ac service ports, so they took awhile to find them. If out of stock they usually can get it ordered in pretty quickly.

According to Napaonline, the port is available at my local Napa but the socket will need to be ordered. Thanks again for your help.
