I have a"66" slick swb and wondered about switching to a Flareside swb. What model years would fit? Looks like "57" - "72". Would that be correct? Numberdummy, what are the facts?

Reason: CHANGED YRS
No pictures as of now due to technological issues. The truck is also somewhat in pieces and will be undergoing a restoration soon. You should be able to score a used box somewhere for less than $2500.
I just found a Flareside (no rust) in Texas.$2500. That would be a two day drive, there and back. LOL. I haven't even gotten mine shipped from Wyoming yet. I am in Nebraska.
I told the wife about it and all the parts I could use and save money on. She gave me the deer in the headlight look. LOL.
Well there is stuff laying around in Saskatchewan but it will cost to transport no matter what. There is a Slick Stock going on in Kansas City Missouri in 2018. That would be a good place to hub nub with fellow Slicksters and find where stuff is hidden.

your truck is on a '79 frame correct? If so, keep in mind the frame width is different behind the cab on '73-'79 (someone pointed this out to you in another one of your threads - they noted that when putting your truck on the dentside frame that the original bed holes could not have been used). So my first thought is that you need a flareside bed from a 73-79 if you want the holes to line up with the frame your truck is on. Though it is hard to tell how the PO modified the frame to fit the 66. I don't personally have a flareside so I'm just speculating.
I had no idea about the `79 frame but keep in mind the top edge of a flareside box changed in `73. The `53-`72 has the top edge on a 45 degree angle and the `73-`79 is flat to allow a canopy (topper) to fit on properly.
Ranger, that is something to consider.I have never really looked at any of these trucks up close.
I guess I have to be sure to say the"66" is on a "79" frame.
Thanks you guys.
Purchased the complete assembled flareside bed for the 65, included the wooden bed, from Obsolete Ford Parts; this was over 15 years ago, delivered for around $2k back then, very please with the quality. Seem to recall FoMoCo threaten them with a law suit for using Ford, not sure, perhaps member more familiar with the circumstances can advise, not sure if they morphed to another Ford part supplier. Having said that, purchased majority of the 65 replacement parts while they were in business and very pleased with the quality of their merchandise. If owner has the driver's side exterior tire rack strongly suggest salvaging regardless of condition.
