This is the first time I have wanted to order a truck versus just buying what is on the lot so I have been following the forum pretty consistently.
The 17 rollout seems like it has had quite a few hiccups and delays up to this point, is this normal for a new vehicle launch?
For all of you guys with a crystal ball and previous experience, what would be a realistic timeframe for the pipeline to stabilize and lead time to return to the 8 week standard?
They have been building these trucks long enough now that you would think the bugs had been worked out of the assembly line.
Assembly line bugs are only one issue, those are usually worked out pretty quick. But there is still parts supply issues, whether it be lack of product to supply or issues that come up manufacturing the parts. Then they get to Job 2 and Job 3 trucks where they have found other issues in specific combo's of orders or parts issues now that trucks are out in the field getting used outside of testing parameters and adjust from there. Pretty normal for a new vehicle/new body/new combo to have some hiccups during the first few months, luckily Ford is a massive company and is usually on it pretty quick, when you deal with specialty products is when you end up with massive delays due to lower production counts on vehicles and parts.
