Hi John, how was your day.
Didn't get the shed done but got the extra add ons finished, got a call from Shantou Guangdong about a small job on a rental unit in the Ogden area. I looked twice at the phone but knew it had to be someone that knows me before I answered.

I patched an area today in that 53 grille I'm working on and also putting the 56 trim rings. I have another small patch to do on the other side of this lamp holder. Center section of the grille still needs to be sand blasted so need to set up a tarp outside and do that one day then weld it all back together.

Looks good John, would make a good shelf in a man cave. Our weather gets crappy on Friday the we get a week of 3 to 5 above, the next job is indoor and well timed.

Once you get the grill finished is it going to be rechromed or painted? Your work looks absolutely top notch!
I have a 54 grill which I hoped to use in my 53 till I found out that it needed a matching 54 gravel pan, now it's going to be my wall art next to the 53 and 55 grills. I don't have a 56 grill any more. I`m using the 53 grill that was nicely restored and painted late this summer. I ordered the re-pop 53 shipping damaged fender today, good news is that the shipping is expected to be only $110 instead of $200.

I need more wall space...I have too much really neat Ford stuff. Also die cast models...lots of those darn die cast models. These are only a few.

The 53 grille wasn't chrome so it will be painted, the 56 grille will stay as it is, I just knocked the dents out and polished a little. If I ever find another 56 I'd probably use it because the next build will be used in the winter..

My ''almost stock'' 53 M100 grill, bumpers, running boards were chromed by a previous owner, some of the 56 grills did come in chrome.

The 56 custom cabs had the chrome grilles, no 53's did from the factory. I believe the 56's were the first to come in chrome..not sure on the Mercury's though..

As far as I know Ford and Mercury trucks were pretty much alike except for the badges and Mercury trucks were only made in Canada.
