2017 Gum Flapping Thead....
Out looking for Huckleberries and found him instead. Found a black bear too. He was too fast for my quick draw lens cap though. He saw us and I guess he decided he was late for an appointment on the other side of the mountain, was quite rude and wouldn't stick around for a picture.....
Fireworks at Diamond Lake. Took the boat out and dropped anchor where they were going off nearly overhead. Would have liked to have gotten a little closer, but a DCSO Marine Patrol would turn his blue lights on every time someone would get any closer than we were. Apparently someone must have spilled coke on his corn flakes earlier in the day and soured his mood....

They take a Snow Cat up to the top of Mount Bailey and set off fireworks from there as well. You just about have to be out on the lake in a boat to see that part. You can't see it from the Camp Grounds and to fight the crowd that invades the Lodge area destroys the mood.......
I've got pictures of the boys and my daughter in the same location, but we had the little Zebco cheapy poles for them. Also have pictures of my daughter in her diaper sitting on the black sand beach at the waters edge just having a blast.
As far as I know, it is the only National Forest where they are allowed to have a Fireworks display. This year was a big one. I thought last year was grand, but they out did themselves this year. Davey (has worked for the resort for about 35 years) told me they had the same fireworks vender as previous years, but he had fired his old crew and hired an all new crew. It seemed to make a big difference especially on the Grand Finale.
It lasted roughly 20 minutes with hardly any delay at all between the bursts.
We plan on trying to get back up there for 2 weeks or so again towards the end of August into September.
Mt. Bailey from the Lake.....
Mt. Thielson, allegedly one of the most photographed mountains in Oregon-but that is the tourist/travel bureau talking....
Son and granddaughter. This is the granddaughter we almost lost at 6 months but was saved by what could be said was a "last second" liver donor and transplant.....a July trip up into the snow was very exciting for her. I didn't think we would every get her back into the rig. Couldn't even freeze her out.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
I was going to wash the bugs off the truck today but seeing as it was so nice out we decided to put more on it before washing. Once the sun works its way toward the west we'll wash it after dinner...
Still trying to get unpacked. One interruption after another, but we are getting there. It's not so much the unloading as it is the putting stuff away.
Got in touch with my sister and told her we were back and asked her if she wanted some fish. She responded with a list of things, including mowing, out at the farm I needed to come out and do. I told her we would be happy to do that WHILE she and her hubby came over here and built fence, mowed, weeded, built the tool and implement shed, repaired the garage door, built the cabinet and plumbing for the new dishwasher, replaced the floor and door in the mud room, replaced the floor in the kitchen............hmmm, haven't heard back from her yet. Still don't know if she wants any Dia. Lk. trout. Perhaps I should take the silence as a "No"?
