I run the same gear and tire size. I went from 3.73 gear to the 4.30 and sometimes I wish I would have went with the 4.56 gears. I am satisfied with the 4.30, but like you, am always looking for more. I am going to put a set of Doug Thorley headers on this spring. I have heard/read that they give a little more umph across the lower and mid range rpms. Plus they headers will address some of the broken studs on the manifolds.
I’m just hesitant because with 4 wheel drive, I’d have to change front and rear gears.
Something I've considered since I too am 4x4...wait till summer (when I know I won't need the 4x4, disconnect the front drive shaft (for added safety margin), and do a gear swap in the rear only. If you're not satisfied, you'll have to swap gears in the rear again but not the front. Once you're satisfied with whatever combination you have, THEN do the front. Of course, doing the job yourself saves you a bunch in labor.
I’ve done pretty much so of the maintenance on my vehicles but I’ve never done a gear change. How difficult is this to do in a driveway? Pointer to a video that others have used?
Thanks
Ah, good question. I'm interested to see what tutorial videos others on here have run across also. Below are a couple that I've found over time. Neither is specific to Super Duty, but the principles and techniques apply nonetheless.

You might post this question in the FTE sub-forum dealing with drivetrains, transmissions etc. From what i know there is a procedure necessary to assure correct fitment and clearances are established.
I have the 4.30 gears and tire size are a bit larger, 285 75r16. So effectively I have it geared higher. I also have the tunes and modified Y pipe.
I’m still looking for more grunt. Should I change gears to the 4.88? I suppose I should upgrade the tunes if I do that. I’m just hesitant because with 4 wheel drive, I’d have to change front and rear gears. Where are people getting gears? Yukon? Sterling 10.25 in the rear.
thanks
What kind of vehicle do you have and what do you use it for? I went from 3.73 to 4.30 in my ex via axle swap and with 32" tires it was like driving a whole different vehicle and was really quick . I've since stepped up to 34.4" tires and it is not near as fun. It is still better than 3.73 and 32" tires, I can tell that much, but not near as much fun as before the tire upgrade. 4.56 would probably be my sweet spot but I don't do enough heavy towing to justify the cost of a gear swap. I tow a skid steer 4-5 times a year on a 10 mile trip. Otherwise its my atv or 3500 lb boat and it does just fine with those.
I own an 03 F-250 with a V10. I love the truck! I Tow a 34' fifth wheel during camping season and a 20' car trailer from time to time. I am surrounded by Diesel truck owners of all kinds. Just curios if anyone has put a turbo kit on a V10 or what you've done for performance upgrades?
I am happy, overall, with my V10. Starts in any weather here in Montana, runs strong and has good power without needing injectors and all of the stuff that the diesel guys are doing. I know I don't get the same fuel mileage as my son who has a diesel, but my truck is pretty trouble free.
Also, I'm disappointed that Ford went away from the V10. From what I've read the V10 has as good or better mileage as the 6.2 with better power. Is that true?
Just thinking that 3-5 lbs of boost would put the V10 in front of the diesels but I don't want to grenade the engine.
Thanks everyone.
I'm curious,
What if you changed the transmission to something more modern???? Something with more gears???? For example: An Allison transmission? Or it's comparable for Ford???? I have an 04 F250, 6.8L V10 Triton. I just installed Autolite XP103 iridium plugs. Huge improvement to performance and mileage!!!! But that could of been the condition of the plugs I pulled out. Pain in the *** getting those plugs in. I want better milage!?!?!?
The engine is pure stock. I need the upgrades for everything I can get!!!! This is going to be my long distance work truck. I'm taking all suggestions. But please give them in order. I don't want to add a super charger if my exhaust is too restricted.

Any and all suggestions are helpful!!!!!!!
So you want better mileage and a supercharger, good luck with that!
