Bowl games
First is the whole BCBS business. I know that many really want it and pushed until it came about, but I don't see it.
1. It diminishes all but the games for the supposed top 4. The focus is on the national champion and other good games suffer.
2. It's not really an objective ranking. I doubt that anybody disputes Alabama (and many would still rank them #1 even if they would somehow lose), but Ohio State was not a given by any means (No disrespect for the Buckeyes). There are too many teams, and no real way to accurately rank them.
Another thing that I wish they'd toss is the replay. It isn't as silly as in the NFL, which, I'm pretty sure, just uses it to add drama. But, it gets old. The game is played at full speed and should be called at full speed. Now everything stops while we wait for the poobahs to make a ruling. The coaches watch all of the tapes -- they should forward their gripes --AFTER the games --to central. Then they can rank the refs and work towards better officiating.
Finally is one that's actually been around for a while. In the interest of saving the QB's from injury, they've made tackle rules that are as restrictive as Johnson's Vietnam bombing plans. That's OK, I don't want folks hurt. But, at least in the NFL, there was the concept of 'in the grasp' when they first started these restrictions. If the QB was essentially in the tackler's control, he would be called for grounding if he managed to toss the ball. It's not called in the NFL any more, and maybe it was never a part of college ball.
But it should be. I was watching today and the QB was being put on the ground (gently
), but he managed to toss the ball away. Fair is fair -- if the defender has to play nice, the QB shouldn't get to avoid the loss of yardage.Comments welcome,

82/128 teams are in a bowl. 64% of all teams available have a post season bowl...Participation Ribbon anybody?
But, there are some pretty good ones (e.g. Michigan vs Florida State). Used to be a big debate about who was really #1. I thought that was a more fun system. But, I guess the alumi ($$) want their school to be the undisputed champs.
