Motor Mounts
Just recently I started having a Vibration at idle, accompanied by a low pitch whining sound.....
It was going away as engine speed would increase, but now it gets slightly more noticeable, and even worse yet when you let off of the gas.
It does it's most noticeable whine/vibration at idle in park.... This rules out the rear end, and transmission.... the power steering doesn't appear to be the problem as turning the wheel does not change the symptom... the only things left would be motor mounts or a possible exhaust leak....
I seriously doubt the exhaust leak.... it doesn't sound loud enough for that to be it. Plus an exhaust leak would not explain the vibration... Which makes me lean heavily toward the motormounts...
How serious of a need is it to have it promptly repaired... I am assuming it will be pricey, and we are on a VERY tight budget... is this just going to be an annoyance that gets worse, but doesn't cause harm to the vehicle.... or is it going to tear the van apart over time?????
Also, anyone got a rough estimate how much I can expect to pay to have this fixed? that way I'll know whether or not they're ripping me off... also any other thoughts as to what could be causing this???
