Rear park speaker
i've been reading for probably 2 hours now, and i've learned alot about the rear parking sensors on our Rigs. I hate to "beat a dead horse", but i just have one question. little background, all 4 of my sensors are ticking, i found the speaker, unplugged it, plugged it back in, tested it, and it makes a little static-y noise, kinda like a blown speaker. So my money is on the speaker. My question is, the part number that i've researched is different than mine. the part number i've researched is YC3Z-15K864-AA, and mine looks like this...
also, the ford expedition speaker looks to be identical, but someone's comment said it wouldn't work. here is the link. the expedition speaker is about half the price too......
Ford Lincoln Rear Bumper Sensor Reverse Parking Aid Warning Sound Speaker OEM | eBay
Since i don't have the patience for waiting weeks to get my cheap ebay speaker in the mail from china, and i'm not paying ford $40-$50 for that cheap little speaker anyway, i went to the neighbor kid who is captain of his high school robotics team and builds bluetooth speaker systems from goodwill parts. i like pictures so i'm gonna attach pics of what he did.
started with a little speaker i believe is from a computer speaker or something...
soldered the new speaker contacts to the old speaker contacts. also, cut out a window in the housing so the old speaker can still fit. the window is for the wires to hang out of.
used the original connector and original speaker, tested the new speaker before final reassembly.
I let the Hero do all the dirty work

and the excursion is back in action, everything works great. Thanks to Logan the neighbor kid, and FTE!
