I'm currently researching the transit connect commercial van as a chimney sweep ride and am wondering if any out there have recommendations on a bulkhead that's sealed or could atleast be effectively sealed in some way. I cannot have soot possibly finding its way into the passenger area.
I need to fully research and cost things out before I make the leap.
Check out what Knapheide has in their Sortimo line. I haven't seen it in the connect, but it's a really nice clean install on the full size transit. I haven't priced em out, but you generally pay for quality. Ford does offer partial rebate towards such upfits for companies.
I got a used transit to use for gas logs repair vehicle. Currently use a chev astro with regular style partition and dont get soot in front.. (chimney sweep in Raleigh nc Chimneykeepers.com) our vacuum sit right behind us on the partition as well..
from my thinking a TC would not be big enough for a full time chimney sweep, repair vehcile as my astro 1997 extended is not big enough at times. We do a lot of chase top repairs and they run 63-65" long and 32-37" wide so that plus caps, vacuum, back wall panels, small vacuum for gas logs, 3 tool boxes, shelves of stuff, blowers, top mount dampers etc. I think a TC would be over loaded quick and then with a 2.0 L motor you will be in the way of traffice trying to turn on ot the street.
