Hello,
My wife and I decided it's time to move up to a full size van. I just started looking yesterday and still figuring out the best van for the money as we're trying not to buy new and have a payment. On craigslist, I just came across a 2009 E150 conversion van, 5.4L fully loaded (*limo pkg* leather, DVD, trailer tow setup) with 88k miles. They're asking $8900/obo. Is this a good price? Any things i should look out for?
That sounds like a great price, way better than anything I've seen in my area in the last 12 months (I've been looking). You may want to look up prices in KBB, NADA, and Edmunds, to give you potential reference prices. Look up on all three as there may be significant differences.
Sounds great to me as well provided it is in good mechanical condition, which it should be with only 88,000 miles.
As with any used vehicle I would look at/under the body for any signs of collision damage/repair. Check tire's for odd or uneven wear (assuming they are not newly installed tires). Check fluid levels and condition. Check for engine codes. If you are not comfortable checking these things then I always recommend having a trusted mechanic look it over.
Any maintenance records are a plus.
None of that would necessarily disqualify it for me, but might affect what I am willing to pay.
Most important to me is how it runs, drives and stops. At 88,000 I wouldn't expect it to drive like brand new but in my opinion it should run that way.
