Levelling

First post of, likely, many dumb questions...

I currently have a '13 250 CC Platinum 6.7. It's been a great truck for me, but it was time to update/upgrade. Placed an order on 12/9 for the same thing in '17. Now, I am one of the unfortunate ones with a less than desireable garage entrance height. A little difficult to measure, but seems right around 83.25". I test drove a '17 Lariat 350 and it fit in the garage. I was doing it myself, but looked like a solid (though puckering) 3/4" clearance. Was just looking at the specs and it looks like the 250 is actually almost a 1/4" taller?

Now, I have been reading the forums and second-guessing getting a 350 instead of the 250 I ordered. Thinking I'd probably pay more as options have gone up in price and might(?) set me back even further on getting my truck, although no VIN or anything yet. But, the axle change would limit aftermarket rim options currently, but that's another story.

My '13 seems to have very little rake at all and I have never leveled a truck. Obviously, that 2.5-3" is going to raise the front of the truck, but how much of that lift is also seen at the mid-body, namely the rear of the cab that seems to be the tallest part of the truck? With my small margin of clearance, is it even an option?

Btw, I already have a call out to my contractor to look at options for raising my garage door height! Even a couple inches would be a help.

Thanks for reading and any advice. Great info throughout this forum.

Ryan

IMHO...it is not even an option if you are concerned with a 7ft garage door height.

Looking at the Specs for the f250 and f350...the heights are the exact same for the CrewCab 4x4 swb trucks. Of course the height will vary if Supercab, etc.

Thanks biz. I am afraid you are probably right, but just wanted someone to help confirm. .2" seems to be the height difference between the two trucks. I just didn't know how much of that front lift from levelling would transmit to the back of the cab. There just seems to be a more pronounced rake on these new SDs than my '13.

Guess I'll be waiting until after delivery to check all clearances before I order any new wheels, tires, etc.

What I calculated on a 176" wheelbase, a 2" leveling kit would rise the rear of the cab by 0.8125", but this is all nominal. based off of the body builders dimensions.

Mine should be a 160" wheelbase, so that should be a little more rise I am thinking?
