Need Help Please

I am usually over on the 48 -56 forum but I thought I would post this question here. I know that 72 and earlier Dana 60 rear differentials are a direct bolt into 48-52 trucks. I found a 73 F250 and was wondering what is the difference between the 73 Dana 60 and the earlier ones? Width, spring perches? Any info would be appreciated. , Doug

Physically, the spring perches on typical Dentside axles are set wider unless it's a 73-77.5 Highboy 4x4.

If the 73 F250 D60 is a 2wd it will be for a 3" width spring and pad with a 37.5" rear frame.

If from a 67-77 Highboy it will be set for a 2.25" rear spring and pad with a 34" frame.

Below is a basic example... the 37.5" chassis depicted is a F100/150 type but the 2wd and later 77.5-79 D60s fit in place of their 9" rears as they share the same springs and measure in the rear.

67-77 F250 with 34" rear frame and 3" springs

73-79 2wd, 72-79 4x4 F100-150, and 77.5-79 F250 4x4
