2wd or 4wd ? Besides 131 to 133" wheelbase difference, 72 2 & 4wd had 34 inch rear rear frame width. 73-79 2wd increased to 38 inch width. 77 4wd increased to 38 inches at serial # Y20,001. Springs were also changed which lowered the height so these are not considered "Highboys", an unofficial term used to denote the higher riding stance of the 67-77 F-250 4wd's.

To clarify...
33 1/2" rear frame rails (behind the cab): 1961/72: F100/250 2WD/4WD & F350 / 1973/76 F250 4WD & 1977 F250 4WD before serial number Y20,001 (last High Boy).
1973/79 F350's on the 140" wheelbase.

Mine is a 72 f-250 2wd but I'm trying to turn it into a 4wd and are there any 4wd frames out there that I could just bolt my body and drive line up to with out any major modifications? If so, what year should I look for?
