My driver side window doesn't work, but when I press the window button the gauge on the dash decreases so I know their is juice going to it. Does anyone know if this is the motor?
Sounds like the motor might be "stuck". Sometimes you can actually jar the motor loose and have it work normally. Sometimes, mind you. The best way is to remove the door panel and tap on the motor itself while working the switch. I've had this happen on my trucks and had them work fine thereafter, but I take it as a sign the motor will need replacing soon.
I suspect this is often caused by water getting into the door. This might be helped by spraying the motor liberally with WD40 or the lube of your choice.
and if that dosent work get a test light or volt meter, probe the wires from the motor it self, check them for power while you work the switch,(make shur your key is switched on first) if you dont get power then remove the swith it self take it apart clean the contacts inside it with alcohol or contac spray from radio shack, otherwise you can raid the juck yard for a switch or buy one from ford $18-$20 from ford. hope this helps. Thank you for the advice. I will try it this weekend. The lady I bought the Bronco from said sometimes the window will work, sometimes it won't. It would make sense that the motor would just be stuck. On an unrelated topic, does anyone know what the gas mileage is like with a 302. I know it isn't good, but I am just curious. Thanks again.
mmmmmm im getting 16 miles per gallon with a performce jet chip its a 89 302 e4od with 255/70/15......i would guess the plastic bushing are gone in gears in the motor or check to see if plastis lockes on the bed sides are there....... take key and turn lock on tailgate if it dont work push against tailgate if it works bushings on locks are bad are need replacing or adj
I had a passenger window problem. Using the window switch showed volt meter drain, but the window would not work. Ended up the motor was shorted somewhere in windings, not enough for blow a fuse, but burnt out anyways. New motor and man the window is fast!
