Am wondering, the bolts that clamp the glass to the reg. How tight should these be torqed, I really don't want to over torqe them, did that on my 83 about 3 days before it got wrecked. Over tighted the bolt just a little much and it shattered all over. ouch

There is no torque spec because the original mounting hardware is pop-rivets not bolts.

Actually, my wife removed the original window for the first time on our '92 and the regulator arms do bolt to the metal mounts on the bottom of the glass. There are two studs on each regulator arm.

When she reassembled everything, she went for hand-tight. If a nut falls off, it will be obvious, and it will be an easier fix than replacing a window that you shattered from overtorquing the nut.

Well, my 82 has pop rivets, but my 83 had all bolts and yes it s@cks when you shatter your own window.
Well, for an update, I had pulled the glass last night to take out the motor, it has been in and out for a while. I found a brush stuck in the holder and had arced up the comentater. I rebuilt the motor and went to put it back in tonight, but then the regulater felt rough to me so I look around and saw alot of sand dirt and crap, sand probly from the beach.
So I pull the reg. the plate under it and the latch assy.
Now im gonna wash the inside and rust-prime it then coat the inside of the tailgate. Not sure with what though.
Wow, I know how to turn a little project into a whole rebuild.
